Our commitment

Deutsche Kraniche Virtual wants its public information and core member services to be usable by people with diverse abilities, devices, and methods of interaction. Accessibility is an ongoing product responsibility, not a one-time certification.

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where reasonably achievable.

What we design for

Our implementation and content practices aim to support:

  • Keyboard-only navigation;
  • Visible and consistent focus states;
  • Logical headings, landmarks, labels, and reading order;
  • Sufficient color contrast;
  • Text resizing and browser zoom;
  • Reflow on smaller screens without unnecessary horizontal scrolling;
  • Screen-reader-compatible names, roles, states, and error messages;
  • Captions, transcripts, or text alternatives for meaningful media;
  • Reduced-motion preferences;
  • Clear language and descriptive links;
  • Forms that identify requirements and explain errors; and
  • Alternatives when a document or feature is not accessible.

Current status

Deutsche Kraniche Virtual targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We do not claim formal certification. We assess accessibility through ongoing internal review, user feedback, and testing appropriate to each service. Known barriers are documented and prioritized as they are identified.

Third-party services such as Discord, VATSIM, IVAO, payment providers, embedded media, or external documents may have accessibility limitations outside Deutsche Kraniche Virtual’s control. We will avoid making a third-party path the only way to access essential trust information whenever reasonably possible.

Flight-simulation software

Simulator clients and flight-recording tools may depend on third-party simulators, operating systems, plug-ins, or data formats. A member may request an alternative process when a Deutsche Kraniche Virtual-controlled workflow creates an accessibility barrier, although we may not be able to reproduce every real-time or simulator-dependent feature in another format.

Requesting help or an alternative format

If you cannot access information or complete a Deutsche Kraniche Virtual-controlled task, contact [email protected]. Tell us:

  • The page, document, or workflow involved;
  • The barrier you encountered;
  • Your preferred format or method, if any; and
  • A way to contact you.

Do not include medical details unless they are necessary for the request. We will use accessibility-request information only to understand and respond to the barrier, operate the request, and improve the service.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within five business days and provide a response or progress update within 20 business days.

Reporting an accessibility problem

Accessibility feedback can be submitted to [email protected]. Reports will not affect membership standing. Good-faith accessibility feedback is welcome even when the reporter is not a member.

Assessment and review

We review material new features and templates as they are introduced and reassess this statement at least annually. Reviews may include keyboard testing, automated checks, browser zoom and reflow checks, screen-reader testing, and feedback from people using the service.

Enforcement or external remedies

If you believe we have not handled an accessibility concern appropriately, ask [email protected] to escalate the request. Nothing in this statement limits rights or remedies available under applicable law.

Changes

We review this statement after significant changes and at least annually. Previous versions remain available in Policy History.
